Frequently asked questions
What rounding precision do the costs use?
All amounts are computed with 4-decimal internal precision and rounded to 2 decimal places (cents) in the display and PDF. The final total is always rounded to the nearest cent.
Are the prices shown excl. or incl. VAT?
Truckfare displays cost prices excluding VAT (excl. VAT). VAT is not included in the base calculation because road hauliers generally reclaim fuel VAT. You can add your own margin and reference VAT in the exported PDF quote.
Where does the displayed distance come from?
Distance is calculated by the HERE Routing API in heavy-goods-vehicle mode, accounting for height/weight restrictions and roads authorised for trucks. It may differ from a standard car GPS calculation.
How does multi-stop / multiple delivery points work?
You can add as many intermediate stops as needed. Each segment is calculated separately by HERE, then distances and durations are totalled to produce the overall cost breakdown for the full journey.
What are ancillary charges (tolls + fuel surcharge)?
Ancillary charges include real motorway tolls by vehicle class (vignette rates included) and, where applicable, the CNR diesel surcharge. They appear as a separate line in the cost breakdown and are included in the total.
Can I export the calculation to CSV?
CSV export is available for PRO subscribers and above. Free subscribers can export the quote as a PDF. The CSV contains all cost lines (CK, CC, CJ, tolls, fuel) for each calculated journey.
Where is my data stored (GDPR)?
Your data is hosted in Europe on GDPR-compliant servers. Routes and calculations are tied to your account and are never shared with third parties. You can delete your quotes at any time from your account dashboard.
